On the 2nd of July 2016 we visited the Red Kite residents at Parsonage Close. Our visit consisted of weeding a residents garden, in preparation for planting new seeds. Also taking pictures of their gardens which are lovely to photo because of all the colourful flowers they have.
The gardening we did was an enjoyable activity to do because it was nice to know that you are helping quicken the process of more seeds being planted, which the residents there enjoy doing. It was also enjoyable because whilst weeding, we got to have a good chat with one of the residents who had some interesting life stories to tell us, and who was also very interested in ours.
Whilst some of us were gardening, the others were taking photos of the gardens. We took lots of pictures of all the flowers and plants pots that were around. Everyone enjoyed taking the pictures, especially Shamis who said that it helped him develop his camera skills whilst having a good time. Catherine also took some beautiful panoramic shots of the gardens which everybody loved. You could see that the residents enjoyed their gardens being photographed, which enhanced the enjoyment of it all. They were very proud of their gardens, which they should be because they were beautiful.
We came across a lovely resident whilst photographing the gardens. At first she was a little suspicious of a group of young people outside her home, but after talking to her she seemed to be loving the company. She told us that her garden had been entered for the Miniature Garden of the Year Award, which is a great achievement. In light of this we took pictures of her garden and some group photos with her and her dog in front of her lovely garden. Her dog was extremely friendly and took a liking to Catherine who held her whilst we took the photos. Before we left we sat down with a resident and had some tea and biscuits whilst taking to her about different things.
Overall it was a lovely visit to Parsonage Close, everybody enjoyed themselves and we are planning to go back and talk to the residents about what pictures of their gardens they would like to be professionally printed.
