Volunteering at Archdale

On the 31st of July 2016, we visited the residents of Archdale, a Red Kite housing site. While we were there we weeded the front of their communal building and swept up all the leaves. Also, we got to speak to the residents there who were very friendly and supplied us with the tools we needed to help.

Weeding was a nice job to do because it was nice to know that we were helping out the residents who could not do it themselves. It was also nice to see the residents appreciating what we did there because young people are sometimes stereotyped for being trouble but actually most of us are really nice, and it was good showing that the stereotype is not actually true.

Whilst we were gardening Shamis took some action shots of us, which have turn't out to be very nice photos. The weather was on our side today and it was very hot, which was good but also a struggle to keep on working in the heat. The morale today was extremely good because we all enjoyed ourselves and were all happy to be doing what we were doing. Even the smallest thing can make a difference in peoples lives and by helping out the residents of the Red Kite housing sites, we are making that difference.

Today was a great day and we made a the front of the building look even better than it did before, which the residents are very happy about. We are planning on making this a regular thing and hope to follow through on this plan.
