Volunteering at Archdale

On the 26th of October we visited Archdale, which is Red Kite residential housing. While we were there we swept up the leaves that were outside the front of the communal building, also helping with the leaves at the back of the residential housing site.

Sweeping the leaves was enjoyable because we were helping the residents by doing something they would have taken longer to do. Also we had some fun along they way, for example Shamis entertained us with his stories of his very eventful life which had us in fits of laughter. The front of the building was easy to do because there was not that many leaves, however the back was much harder because it was totally covered.

Even though the back was full of leaves, it didn't stop us from completing the job. It took a lot of bin bags and energy to collect them all but in the end it was done and the leaves were no longer on the paths. The residents there were very nice, supplying us with the tools we need and refreshments. Every resident that passed said thank you to us and it was great to see the appreciation we were getting.

Overall we had a really good time volunteering at Archdale again, we are glad we could help and are looking forward to coming back to help out in the future.
